The lessons include (1) watching movie lectures from your computer, (2)
taking online lecture quizzes, and (3) completing online homework
assignments. Homework assignments and lecture quizzes will be completed
through WebAssign, an online homework and quizzing website. There will be many opportunities to get help,
both online and in-person through the physics resource center (Burson, Room
135).
You DO NOT have
to be on campus to do the homework, watch the online movie lectures, or take
the online lesson quizzes.
Once you
register for this class, you will have access to the class homepage through WebCT. You will
access this link from your 49er express account (under “My Courses”). This is how you will access all information
(lecture movies, lecture quizzes, and homework assignments).

for questions about the lab course.
FAQs
Can I log-on at my convenience, or is there a set time when I need to log-on?
There is no set time when you have to log on; you can do so at your convenience. Professor Davies will be leading study groups online in Centra each week. (Access to Centra and participation in the online study groups will be explained at the start of the semester).
Can I do the assignments at my convenience?
The lecture movies and lecture quizzes are assigned twice per week. You can watch the movies and take the quizzes at your convenience, as long as the quiz is completed by the assigned due date and time (lecture movie must be watched before the quiz can be taken). The homework is assigned weekly. This may also be completed at your convenience, as long as it is submitted by the due date and time.
Do I have to participate in discussion boards or the Centra online study groups?
There are no discussion boards. The Centra study groups (instructor office hours) are optional. There may be bonus point opportunities throughout the semester for students that participate.
How do I access the online class?
To access the online class, go to our class webpage in WebCT. There you will find instructions for how to take the class, a list of materials you will need, and the weekly assignments.
