Course Content: This course, PHYS 1102, meets partially the COGE goal-IV (Understanding science and technology) requirements. Each student is required to enroll concurrently in Physics 1102-Lab. The lecture and lab will provide a basic understanding of the concepts related to electromagnetic phenomena with the example applications in today’s technology, and nature of light with related instruments. Time permitting; a brief introduction to modern physics concept will also be included.
GRADING: The 10-point grading scale, 100 - 90 = A, etc., will be used in this class.

e) Final Exam 25% (Partially Comprehensive)
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Ø Students are expected to attend all class periods and must remain until the end.
Ø Students are responsible for material presented in the classes that may or may not be contained in an explicit form in the text.
Ø Students must review the related examples in the text and should also do the assigned homework on time. Students must come prepared for the class and should participate by questions and comments on the material presented / discussed in the class.
Ø Homework related questions should be addressed to the assigned TA and if needed
only then go to the instructor for an extra help or resolution of any problem.

Ø No make-up quizzes, tests will be allowed; therefore, students should not miss any.
Ø Students are encouraged to make study-groups and discuss the homework problems
but the solutions must be worked-out / written independently.
Ø The attached course schedule would be followed with appropriate adjustments
whenever it deemed necessary.
